Cat names, counted
Most name lists are somebody's suggestions. These are counts, taken from public municipal pet records — what people actually named their cats.
Cats are listed by coat color rather than breed, because most cats are not pedigree: three quarters of registered cats are recorded simply as domestic shorthair, longhair or mediumhair. Color is how people actually describe a cat.
